Susan K. Jones

Susan K. Jones is a tenured, full Professor of Marketing at Ferris State University (since 1990) and the owner of Susan K. Jones and Associates (since 1980).  As an advertising, public relations, and direct and interactive marketing consultant, she specializes in business-to-business, collectibles, catalogs, educational products, and financial services. 

Clients of Susan K. Jones & Associates have included eBay, International Resources, The Hamilton Collection, Enesco Corporation, GoCollect.com and Collectors' Information Bureau -- all in the collectibles field.  She has conducted keynote, day-long and two-day marketing training programs for eBay, Yamaha Musical Instruments, Sprint/Draft Worldwide, University of Louisville, Direct Marketing Association of Detroit, Consumers Energy, Advanstar Communications, Spain’s El Instituto de Comercia Electrónico y Marketing Directo, Argentina’s Asociación de Marketing Directo e Interactivo de Argentina, and other organizations.  She is a frequent speaker at marketing and education conferences and meetings. 

Her honors include Marketer of the Year for the West Michigan Chapter of the American Marketing Association, Volunteer of the Year by the Chicago Association of Direct Marketing (CADM), and the Robert Clarke Award of the Direct Marketing Educational Foundation as Direct Marketing Educator of the Year.  In April 2002 she was named Charles S. Downs Direct Marketer of the Year by the Chicago Association of Direct Marketing.  In February 2003 she received the Andi Emerson Award for creative direct marketing excellence from the John Caples International Awards organization.  In August 2006 she was named a charter Master/Emeritus Direct Marketer by the Chicago Association of Direct Marketing.  In April 2007 she was inducted into the Medill School of Journalism Hall of Achievement at Northwestern University.  In 2010, she was named one of the “Fifty Fascinating Professors Who Tweet” by OnlineUniversities.com. In 2011 she was presented with the Alexia Vanides Award as Professor of the Year at West Virginia University’s IMC Masters’ Degree Program. 

Susan is the author of Creative Strategy in Direct and Interactive Marketing (RACOM Books), the co-author of Selling by Mail (Scribner's), co-author of Marketing Convergence, and has authored or co-authored a number of other books on time management and collectibles, as well as two books of fiction.  Ms. Jones is a member of the board of Mercantile Bank of West Michigan.  Educated at Northwestern University, she holds a B.S.J. and an M.S.J. in advertising.  She and her husband, William T. Jones, have two grown sons.  They live in East Grand Rapids, Mich.
